"Retrotech" -- My Father owned and operated the first Electronic Service Company in this area (sales and service of televisions and household appliances) from the 50’s through the 80’s. When he retired, he simply locked the doors and drove away, leaving the building full of inventory, some brand new and still in their boxes. In 2001 the county bought the property and it was slated for demolition. For about a month, my Father and I salvaged literally tons of parts ranging from vacuum tubes, capacitors, transistors, resistors, circuit boards, knobs (with channel numbers), heating coils from ovens, burners from stove tops, fans, brushes and many more objects I did not recognize other than for their aesthetic value. I began constructing 2 dimensional, relief wall pieces and 3 dimensional sculptures from these parts. Currently this “Collection” which I’ve titled “RETROTECH” reached about 135 in number.
